Forthcoming call for EUROFLEETS multidisciplinary marine science ship-based training courses for postgraduate students of marine-related sciences 10/03/2010

Two multidisciplinary practical ship-based training courses, organized within the EUROFLEETS programme, will be held in Cork, Ireland in late August 2010 on board RV Celtic Voyager

 

These  practical ship-based training courses will allow post-graduate students to acquire the practical skills necessary to conduct scientific surveys at sea, and will focus on  survey design and planning, deployment and operation of equipment and instrumentation, sample collection and processing, and safety at sea. A one day  shore-based module post-survey will be devoted to data analysis, quality control, processing and overall integration of data. Training will cover a wide range of marine disciplines including oceanography, geosciences, benthic ecology and fisheries science and will ultimately focus on integrating these disciplines to provide a multidisciplinary ecosystem approach to managing the marine environment.

 

A call for the selection of the post-graduate students (a total of 20 places) will be issued  at the end of March  2010.
