The 2011 ESFRI symposium, schedule to be held in Brest, France, from the 28th of June until the 1st of July 2011, aims to:

  • identify the major challenges for marine science of this century,
  • foster interactions between managers and users of the RIs, including sponsors, scientists, industry and stakeholders.

The symposium is organised in seven sessions and public and non-public parallel workshops:

Sessions:

  • Oppening – Day 1
  • What are the added values of the integrated research infrastructures in marine sciences? – Day 1
  • Feedbacks from existing large integrated infrastructures – Day 1 and Day 2
  • Poster – Day 1
  • Marine integrated infrastructures and users: what are the major scientific challenges of the 21st century? How do large infrastructures meet these challenges? – Day 2
  • Marine integrated infrastructures: European strategy for governance and funding – Day 3

Public Workshops:

  • EuroMarine: Coordination action project targeting the three marine science FP6 Networks of Excellence EUR-OCEANS, MarBEF and Marine Genomics Europe – WP4 Round Table – Day 3
  • JERICO: Joint European Research Infrastructure network for Coastal Observatories – New observing systems for VOS: from RECOPESCA to CANOE – Day 3
  • Euro-Argo: European component of a worldwide in situ global ocean observing system, based on autonomous profiling floats – Scientific presentations on EuroArgo – Day 3
