The RV Celtic Voyager is a multipurpose research vessel suited to coastal research and offshore survey operations. The vessel is used for a variety of applications including fisheries research, environmental monitoring, seabed mapping, oceanographic, meteorological and radiological surveys, weather buoy maintenance, and student training. The vessel is equipped with full hydrographic/oceanographic instrumentation suite including EM 1002/3002 multibeam systems.

Acoustic Doppler Current Profiler (RDI, BV ADCP38, 38 kHz); Thermosalinograph SBE 21, with temperature sensor SBE 38; CTD profiler and rosette sampler (SBE 911 with SBE 32 carousel, 12 position. 12 x 5l water samplers (Nansen type)); Multi-beam echo sounder (Kongsberg Simrad EM1002 (SIS OS)); Single-beam echo sounder (scientific, Kongsberg Simrad EK500); Single-beam echo sounder (hydrographic, Kongsberg Simrad EA600: 12, 38, 200 kHz); Sub-bottom profiler (SES Probe 5000, 2x2 array, CODA DA200 acquistion); Sound velocity profiler (AML SVPlus/+ smart SV+T) , Moving vessel profiler (MVP), Weather system (Vaisala, Milos 500)
Mobile scientific equipment on request:
RV Celtic Voyager can provide a range of additional mobile equipment for various tasks including a variety of grabs and corers, plankton nets and additional sampling equipment.
Availability for EUROFLEETS2:
Modality of access under this proposal: The Celtic Voyager will be made available for 1 or 2 cruises totaling 6-14 days and will be able to accommodate up to 8 scientists. The vessel will be available for use in North western Euopean Atlantic Waters. Successful applicants will be given full use of the vessel and its permanent and portable scientific equipment. Scientists will utilize the MI survey planning system for preliminary cruise planning and will engage with the Research Vessel Operations team in the MI in the planning phase of the survey.
