Features:

This silent design Research Vessel (ICES 209) will be able to carry out surveys that involve the use of a wide range of oceanographic techniques; fisheries, physics, chemistry and geology.

Her tackle is designed to operate CTD, rosette sampler, grab, corer, trawl fishing, SSS, ROV, etc. and allows to deck a 20’ container on port side and two 10’ containers on starboard side.

The vessel has Dynamic positioning K-POS (DP 1) for corer, grab and ROV operations.

Availability for EUROFLEETS2:

Modality of access under this proposal: The Regional vessel R/V Ángeles Alvariño (or the twin vessel R/V Ramón Margalef) is offered for scientific cruises up to a length of 10 days in the Bay of Biscay. Up to 45 days per year are considered for the whole project, ie. 180 days in four years. The scientific team, according to the approved plan, will have full access to the vessel scientific systems. Since those two vessels operates one in Biscay Gulf and the second in the Mediterranean the regional vessel to be considered will be the one operating in the area whereas the project is going to be develop.

Support offered under this proposal: The vessel has state of the art acoustic equipment (EM710, TOPAS, ME70, EK60, ADCP), mainly different types of scientific echosounders; a technician on board provide support to all those systems, but he is not responsible for the operation or postprocessing of data. LIROPUS ROV system may be considered to be use on both vessels (not simultaneously) but it should then be considered that it includes a single team of 3 technicians working continuously for 12 hours. Sea state limit of operation is Force 4. This system is not included in the unit cost of the vessel for TNA.

 

 

Travel and shipment costs for "Regional 3 Call":

•  European funding will cover use of the vessels (with some berth limitation in some cases), full crew, fuel (at economical service speed, for details contact vessel operator), victuals and other standard operating costs. Travelling for the embarked team and transport of equipment will be covered up to a maximum amount designated to each research vessel.

• Grantees will not invoice the EUROFLEETS2 Consortium or respective vessel operator for any additional or third-party costs, such as salary costs, equipment manufacture, repair and rental of equipment, consumables, sub-contracting and assistance, publication costs and overheads
