WPs and Tasks

The EUROFLEETS Project is organised under Activities, Work Packages and Tasks. Here you can find the description of each one of these components.

The objectives by type of activity of the EUROFLEETS project are as follows:


Networking Activities - IMR

Enhanced structure and integration
(NA1 and NA2)

  • Define a common strategic vision for European research fleets and associated heavy equipment (e.g. submersible vehicles as ROVs/AUVs)
  • Facilitating coordinated infrastructure access to European researchers and enlarge services, impact and facilities
  • Reinforce regional fleet capacities and coordination
  • Establish a European Virtual Infrastructure
  • Establishment of a balanced scorecard of enhanced coordination and performance indicators

Enhanced cost/efficient and sustainable use

  • Promote a common language among European research fleets by reinforcing common standards and experimental protocols
  • Facilitate optimal use, and inter-operability, for existing equipment and develop new interoperable equipment

High sharing of knowledge
(NA6 and NA7)

  • Advanced training in modern interoperable equipments
  • Reinforce the European dimension of research careers and education
  • Intensify interactions with industry, policy makers, citizen, as well as other infrastructures (e.g. EUFAR, ...) and European projects (SeaDataNet, …)
  • Develop international cooperation also outside Europe

Sustainable vessels operations

  • Develop eco-responsibility on existing research vessels
  • Define design guidelines for new built research eco-vessels
