The EUROFLEETS consortium (24 institutions from 16 countries) had its Final Conference on the 13th. After 4 years of intensive work innovative results were shared with all interested actors in the optimisation, development and usage of marine research infrastructures. The EUROFLEETS Training Activity: Implementation of education activity on board of a vessel came to an End.
Two Science Teams, almost 130 undergraduate students, a Portuguese caravel in each of the five activities of four hours undertook on the Tagus estuary. The “journey through uncharted waters” – at least for many of the young participants – was intended to encourage children and adolescents to perceive the role of the research vessels and also the investigation of the oceans, and Portuguese maritime heritage as one of the greatest values of the country.
